《飛鳥集》共有325首短詩，短短的詩句看似簡單，卻包含了──
意義深遠的哲理：「那些把燈背在背上的人，把他們的影子投到了自己前面。」
對自然萬物的觀察：「夜祕密地把花開放了，卻讓白日去領受謝詞。」
對生命的期盼：「使生如夏花之絢爛，死如秋葉之靜美。」
以及對生活的體悟：「我們熱愛世界時便生活在這世界上。」

《新月集》則由40首長詩組成，充盈著孩子對母親的深切愛意，時而要求母親答應他去當船夫，時而勸慰母親不要理會惡郵差，更化身為英雄，幫母親打退壞人。詩中處處滿溢著對家庭生活、對母子親情的讚嘆，能把我們從懷疑貪婪的俗世人間帶往美靜天真的新月之國去，使我們重溫依傍在母親身邊的孩童時光。
